Gannett Offset/Minneapolis is in its twenty-fourth year of serving the needs of our customers with a wide range of graphic and printing services.
In June of 1976, Pat Stahel, president, founded Printed Media Companies as a typesetting/keylining house. The company also "jobbed" print projects to area printers.
1979 marked our official entry into printing with the purchase of a six-unit web press which necessitated a move to larger facilities. Bindery operations began in 1981 as the company continued to expand its array of services.
In 1983, A.S. Industries was acquired and with it the presses and bindery equipment to begin offering sheetfed printing services. It also marked the continued expansion of bindery operations to a full-service line-up. The printing side of the business continued an aggressive pattern of growth over the next few years with the addition of heatset web presses, and it continues today. Didde mini-webs that excel in the production of direct marketing materials and other smaller format pieces were added in 1997.
In 1999 A MAN Roland Uniset 70 non-heatset web press with shaftless technology was added. It was the first Uniset 70 to become operational in the United States.
1989 marked the beginning of Minneapolis Offset’s mailing operations, a service that we continue to offer to customers who use the U.S. Postal Service as their delivery vehicle for direct marketing projects. Beginning with one person and a computer, it is now a full-fledged department with USPS-approved plant loading and verification capabilities.
In the early 1990’s, PMC entered the field of graphics and digital electronic pre-press services with the acquisition of PMSI and GS Graphics, two local companies with excellent reputations for serving customers, both locally and nation-wide, with quality graphic services. This acquisition included a full compliment of desktop publishing and imaging/output equipment and a full-service photo studio with conventional and digital image capturing capabilities, the first studio to commercially utilize digital cameras.
In May of 1997, PMC was acquired by Gannett Co., Inc., and became a part of Gannett Offset, their commercial printing division. Gannett Offset has nine web printing facilities strategically located throughout the USA.
In January 0f 1999, Printed Media Companies changed its name to Gannett Offset/Minneapolis.
Today, at nearly 230 associates strong, Gannett Offset - Minneapolis has the equipment, facilities and, more importantly, the expertise to provide our customers with a vast selection of services to fulfill their needs. For a complete listing, click here to go to our Home page.
